Conclusion.  This bibliographic essay does not begin to cover the depth and extent of the writings concerning archives, archivists, and archival work.  Hopefully, it does reflect the fact that archives and its many facets is not something that can be easily covered in a single textbook or basic manual.  Records professionals needing to gain an understanding of archives must, first, become familiar with the classic, seminal, and other foundational writings supporting this field.  Then, they must position themselves to be regular readers in a variety of disciplines, including archives and records management, studying the nature of archives, records, and recordkeeping systems.
