Biographical sketch: Currently doctoral student in the School of Library and Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Practicing archivist for 25 years since receiving M.A., with archives specialization, from SLIS, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Positions have included Head of Rare Books, Manuscripts and Archives, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, The New York Public Library; Curator of Manuscripts, Rare Books and Manuscripts Division, The New York Public Library; and Assistant State Archivist, State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Archival educator since 1982 in both graduate and continuing education programs. Adjunct instructor at Queens College, School of Library and Information Studies, City University of New York (1982) and Columbia University, School of Library Service (1983-1988). Workshop instructor for SAA, regional archival organizations, and the SLIS Continuing Education Program. Active member and Fellow of SAA.

Research Interests: Concepts of leadership as they apply to professions, for a dissertation that will probably be a case study of the leadership in the archival profession. Also, archival education and the balance between teaching practice and theory.
