The graduate program at the Faculty of Information Studies is a two year program (students take 16 semester courses). All students are required to take 4 core courses related to information management and 4 required courses in archives. The students have a wide variety of archives, records management, information technology, or library courses from which to choose their electives.
The School's approach acknowleges the interconnectiveness of all branches of the information. Archivists, information systems specialist and librarians share overlappping and complementary skills but retain unique perspectives and technical competencies.
The curriculum, linking the shared by providing a home for the unique, meets the challenge oft he new information environment by providing students with a base of knowledge necessary for all practitioners. At the same time, the multi-disciplinary nature of the program encourages students to broaden their academic experience with courses from other specialization within the Faculty and other departments of the university.
Our approach produces graduates who are flexible in problem solving and adaptable to rapidly changing conditions in the workplace.
