Where are they now?

By Tywanna Whorley and Ira Revels

In celebration of Black History Month, the Minority Concerns Council (MCC) would like to take this opportunity to recognize past and present African-American graduates of the School of Information Sciences. During the late eighties and early nineties, now Professor Emeritus, Dr. E.J. Josey was active in recruiting African Americans for the School of Information Sciences.  As a result of his tireless efforts and dedication, the School of Information Sciences has produced the third most African-American Masters graduates, behind historically black colleges Clark Atlanta and North Carolina Central. Although the number of African Americans attending this school has significantly decreased in recent years, our black graduates are highly visible in the profession either as professors, directors of public libraries, or specialists in their field. This list serves two purposes, it is an example of the many African Americans who have gone through this program and a testament to their accomplishments. We look forward to adding present master’s candidates upon completion of their program.
